Mandela Day Commemoration
In honor of Nelson Mandela’s 67 years of public service, Tshipi e Ntle Manganese Mining heeded a call for all to make an impact in the lives of the communities and designated 67 minutes of their time to make a difference in the lives of the school children of Itlotleng Secondary School in Bendel village on Monday,18 July 2022, a school that is within the John Taolo Gaetsewe (JTG) district where the Mine operates.
As part of the Mine’s social responsibility, Tshipi donated about 400 winter beanies, scarves and gloves to keep the children warm as they travel to school. Furthermore, the Mine also donated 500 sanitary towels for the school girls that are locally manufactured by Blossom Care Solutions. Blossom Care Solution is one of Tshipi’s Enterprise Development Programme beneficiaries.
Apart from the donation that was given on the day, Tshipi has recently completed a R7 million project for the same school. The project was for the installation of a new waterborne ablution facility, conservancy tank, water filters, renovations and extension of the kitchen as well as installation of shelves and refurbished kitchen.
The principal of the school Mr Ontibile Sebuseng said they were grateful to the Mine for choosing their school as one of its beneficiaries. ”We count ourselves very fortunate to be among the schools that benefit from Tshipi. The Mine contributed immensely to Itlotleng since the beginning of this year apart from the gifts brought today. Some of the good work they have done at our school we have never experienced since the inception of this school”, Sebuseng added.
Speaking on behalf of Tshipi e Ntle Manganese, the Communication Superintendent Nozimanga Sokana said the Mine intends to positively impact its mining communities for improved livelihoods, especially for the marginalized people. Tshipi aspires to live up to its corporate citizenship’s expectations and beyond by constantly leveraging on opportunities that present themselves to make a difference in the lives of the JTG communities”, Sokana said. She further added that the celebration of Mandela day with the children and bringing gifts resonate with the passion that Nelson Mandela had for children. “We could not have done it any different as we try to plough the spirit of our celebrated icon into the upcoming generation”, she added
Among other dignitaries that were attending the event were Circuit Managers, the Department of Education District Management and the Traditional Council.
